This kitchen island was based initially on a plan posted on cherishedbliss.com
Using those plans, we:
- Changed the bottom two drawers into one big one
- Changed the right side cabinet into a tip-out garbage bin
- Added a drop-leaf
Reclaimed wood was used where possible and available.
The cabinet structure takes shape:
The first drawers go in... with reclaimed fronts
Drawers and cabinet door assembled, installed and adjusted
All drawers and cabinets in place, and painted
Trimming the doors. Towel rack installed.
All hardware in place. Went with oil-rubbed bronze hardware.
Used heavy duty EVERBILT hinges to support the drop leaf
Island with unfinished top in place
Finished product with leaf up
Front view with leaf up
Back view with leaf down
Im in the process of making the same island and love the drop leaf that you added! Can you shed some light on how you attached/braced the leaf?!

ReplyDeleteHi Elliott! I am so sorry I missed your comment. There are 2 hinges to hold the leaf and 2 triangle supports that pivot out on their own hinges to hold it up.
